Drake’s BARN is a food, beverage, and entertainment destination along the riverfront in West Sacramento

Drake’s BARN is officially opening today (10/24/18) at 4:00 PM. From now until Sunday (10/28/18) they will be celebrating their Grand Opening Week with daily food trucks, live music and DJs, special guest vendors, as well as all of the features they have to offer like the PizzaSmith restaurant, a 400 seat beer garden, and fire pits.

We were lucky enough to attend their Influencer Night on Friday with some friends and we were pleasantly surprised with how transformed the space looked. The BARN originally opened in July 2016 as an outdoor event space. We attended several Off the Grid nights at the BARN and although the structure looked unique, the space didn’t make as much sense before. Now with how the entrance and beer garden are set-up it seems more cohesive and inviting.

The beer and food pairings were great

Drake's Barn Food and Beer were great

As soon as we walked in the event, we were greeted and offered drinks right away. Two thumbs up for great service. I had the Hefeweizen, which I enjoyed. Peter had a few beers including a Nitro Blonde which he really liked. Another highlight was all the food we were able to preview. They were passing around food from both the PizzaSmith and the on-site food truck. Everything we tried was tasty. I especially enjoyed the carnitas tostada (that’s what I’m calling it, not sure if that’s what it says on the menu) and the Kimball Tri-Tip Sandwich with jalapeno-bacon jelly. Peter was a big fan of the pizza, which they make in the full restaurant. BONUS: they also serve cocktails in addition to beer and wine. Overall, we thought the beer and food were great pairings and complimented each other well.

We loved the overall vibe and attention to detail that was put into the space

To top it off, the venue was very inviting. When you first walk in, the restaurant is on the left. Then you walk out to the open space with a variety of seating. Loved all the options and the firepit, which is perfect for when the weather gets cooler and as the breeze from the river starts to hit in the evening. For warming times, the open meadow with beach chairs and lawn games are fun for hanging out with friends.  This is a great addition to the riverfront and we definitely will be back.

If you are looking for a spot to hang out after work or on the weekends, we highly recommend heading over the West Sacramento to check out Drake’s BARN.
