modern-day-couple-about

We are a husband + wife duo building our life beyond the 9 to 5.

We wanted to share our adventures, lifestyle, and interests from business to technology.

The idea started while we both worked in tech in Silicon Valley, immersed in the marketing side of things. We
were very career driven but we understood there was a life beyond the day job. We’re both passionate about a
wide array of things and it’s become the norm to have a side-hustle and/or multiple “jobs” and as
multi-hyphenates ourselves, we felt the need to share and connect with other like-minded people. What started
as an idea in our apartment, came to fruition as we embark on a new journey as entrepreneurs in our hometown
currently living with family. We’re documenting our journey through Modern Day Couple.

Peter Syravong

Born and raised in South Sacramento, grew up as a graffiti writer turned total nerd on lifestyle + social media marketing. I left home to spread my wings taking me to Southern California for over 10+ years (I left part of my heart in San Diego attending UCSD) and 2+ years in the bay area. I’ve worked for the Secretary of State of California, set artist for La Jolla Playhouse, startups, to Monster Energy and finally at big tech in Silicon Valley. Beyond art, I’m terribly obsessed with my cool ass nephew, cat videos + photos and entrepreneurship. Currently working on building my own joint ventures Churro Project, Modern Day Couple, The Proud Show and River City Rickshaw here at home. You can follow me on Instagram and Twitter, and my portfolio I need to update, but probably never will.

INFJ with a passion for helping others. I was born and raised in South Sacramento and Elk Grove but spent most of my adult life in Southern California (La Jolla, San Diego, Long Beach, Pasadena). After almost a decade in SoCal, we moved to the East Bay to be closer to family, spent a year in San Jose because work, and now I’m back in my Sacramento supporting my husband and building a life and hopefully soon a family in our hometown. By day my career is in marketing communications (currently available for hire), and I moonlight as a blogger, content creator, event planner and maker of things. Food is my love language – I love all things food especially finding new restaurants and trying new recipes. I have an obsession with Disneyland, I’ve been an annual passholder for years now and I document that with my sister on our Instagram account: sisterhoodofdisney. I’m a bit of a nerd and I’m currently obsessed with books, podcasts and taking courses/workshops. My favorite things to do in my free time are explore and spend time with my family. I document it all on Instagram and Twitter, you can also check out my personal website.
